How to Fork a Project

Forking allows you to use somebody else's design (or even one of your own designs) as a starting point for a new design of your own.

1. First, go to the Project Page of the design you want to fork from. (There are a couple of ways to do this. See step 1 of the Import/Export guide.)

2. In the Timeline tab (selected by default), click Fork at the top-left:

(Note: if you want to fork from an earlier version of the design, first use the Timeline functionality before you click Fork.)

3. You will be presented with a dialogue box where you can enter the name and description of the forked project:

The default is to use the original projects settings. If you are forking one of your own projects, you will probably want to give it a different name ;-)

4. Finally, click “Fork Project”. You will shortly be taken to the Project Page of the newly forked project, which is under your account. Whatever you do with the new project has no impact on the original.
